Gasum said Wednesday it opened an LNG filling station for heavy-duty vehicles in Dalarna, Sweden.
Gasum’s new station in Borlange offers liquefied natural gas and liquefied biogas (LBG) for heavy duty vehicles in an area with terminals and industry that experiences heavy traffic, the firm said.
At the moment, Gasum has 27 filling stations for HDVs around the Nordics and 14 in Sweden.
In the coming years, the Finland-based LNG supplier is planning to increase its network in the Nordics up to 50 filling stations
“Most of our customers have operations throughout Sweden, so the station in Borlange is a welcome addition to the network of filling stations for them as well,” said Mikael Antonsson, director traffic Sweden, Gasum.
“Interest in gas as a fuel solution is steadily rising and thanks to government climate subsidies such as Klimatklivet, more than 800 gas-powered trucks are now making their way to Swedish roads,” he said.
Team effort with Swedish duo
The station in Borlange is the latest addition to Gasum’s network in Central Sweden as the firm is also planning to start production of LBG in the area.
Additionally, the LNG supplier launched the new station in collaboration with the region’s largest logistics company MaserFrakt and TRB.
The station is located on MaserFrakt’s property while TRB owns 12 large transportation and logistics operators around Sweden. Its network consists of approximately 7,000 vehicles.
“As the transport industry tries to meet rapidly increasing customer demand for low emission transport as well as reach EU and national emission targets, LBG and LNG will be very attractive fuel alternatives,” said Antonsson.
