Sandahls in largest Swedish bio-LNG truck order

Swedish logistics company Sandahls has placed the largest order for trucks that can run on bio-LNG in Sweden, as it looks to ditch fossil fuels in its operations by 2025.

The order placed via Volvo dealer Finnvedens Lastvagnar for 120 FH trucks is the largest-ever in Sweden, Volvo Trucks said in a recent statement.

According to Volvo Trucks, Sandahls already took delivery of the first vehicles in this batch and would receive in total 90 trucks by the end of this year.

In a separate statement, Finland’s LNG supplier Gasum said it has signed a multi-year deal with Sandahls to supply bio-LNG to the latter.

Gasum said the deal, worth several hundred million Swedish crowns, is one of the biggest in the Nordic biogas sector to date.

Sandahls is a transport partner of Volvo Trucks and transports Volvo truck cabins from the production plant in Umea to assembly in Gothenburg.

The new fuel agreement with Sandahls would also result in two more stations in conjunction with Sandahls’s terminals in Lulea and Vargarda for liquefied biogas, Gasum said.

According to Gasum, at the end of 2021, Sweden had more than 375 LNG trucks on its roads, 176 or 88 percent more than a year earlier.

Gasum has 19 liquefied gas filling stations across Sweden and more than 40 stations in the Nordics, it said.
