Drydocks World announced the contract award for the FSU Cap Lopez with Dixstone Lower Gulf FZCO in a social media post on Thursday.
This complex EPC conversion will support Gabon’s strategic floating LNG development, enabling offshore gas liquefaction, storage, and export, while helping reduce gas flaring and boosting the nation’s production capacity by approximately 105 million standard cubic feet per day, the company said.
According to Drydocks World, the project scope extends from over 700 tonnes of new steel fabrication and 3 km of piping to the installation of a 1,400-tonne BOG module and a 350-tonne E-House.
It will also include full vessel drydocking, tank coating, and life-extension works, all under the classification of Lloyd’s Register.
Sail-away is scheduled for July 2027.
Drydocks World did not reveal the pricing or other details regarding the vessel.
LNG Bayelsa
Last year, Dixstone revealed that the “FSU LNG Cap Lopez” arrived at UAE’s Port Khalid, Sharjah, on March 12, 2025.
The LNG carrier in question is the 137,500-cbm LNG Bayelsa.
VesselsValue data showed that Perenco bought this 2003-built steam LNG carrier from Nigeria’s Bonny Gas Transport (BGT), the shipping unit of LNG producer Nigeria LNG.
In Gabon’s Cap Lopez, this FSU will work alongside a barge that is currently under conversion in the UAE.
Dixstone officially started conversion on the Bran6 barge, which will serve Perenco’s floating LNG export project at Cap Lopez, in 2024.
In September 2024, Dixstone announced it had secured a construction, procurement, and integration contract for Perenco’s floating LNG export project at Cap Lopez, saying the project includes a near-shore liquefaction barge and LNG storage.
According to Dixstone, this project will produce 0.7 mtpa of LNG and 25,000 tons of LPG per year in the first phase.
