Belgium’s Fluxys offers Zeebrugge LNG slots

Belgian LNG terminal operator Fluxys is offering 12 regasification slots at its LNG import facility in the port of Zeebrugge from June to September this year.

Fluxys LNG, a unit of Fluxys, is offering boosted slots on June 5, June 11, June 21, June 26, July 4, July 27, August 7, August 9, August 22, August 27, September 14, and September 22.

For these cargoes, Fluxys LNG commercializes the firm rights to unload, store, and regasify up to 165,000 cbm LNG over 10 days, according to a Fluxys statement.

Auctions for these slots will be held on March 19 and March 20 via a dedicated website.

Also, the starting price is the regulated tariff which ranges from 657,550.11 euros to 670,910.11 euros for the slots, Fluxys said, adding that the major price step is 100,000 euros and the minor price step is 50,000 euros.

Capacity boost

In August 2024, Fluxys received the 3000th cargo of LNG at its import facility in the port of Zeebrugge.

In operation since 1987, the Zeebrugge LNG terminal mostly receives shipments from Qatar, USA, and Russia.

Due to the high demand for LNG, Fluxys is expanding the facility, and it has already increased the terminal’s capacity by adding three new open-rack vaporizers.

The capacity has been increased since January 1, 2024 to 11.3 mtpa (15 bcma).

“The additional sendout capacity (1.3 mtpa / 2 bcma) is scheduled to be available on January 1, 2026,” Fluxys said previously.

Last year, US energy giant ConocoPhillips signed a deal with Fluxys to book long-term capacity at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal.

The capacity booking at the terminal will allow ConocoPhillips to import and regasify 0.75 mtpa of LNG for delivery in Belgium and also throughout Europe starting in April 2027.

This deal came after Fluxys offered long-term capacity for 2027-2044 in June 2024.
