Santos’ finance chief resigns

Australian LNG player Santos said on Tuesday that its chief financial officer Sherry Duhe has resigned, just one year after taking on the role.

Santos appointed Lachlan Harris as acting CFO and will be undertaking a handover with Duhe.

Harris has served as Santos’ treasurer and deputy CFO for more than two years and has previously acted in the CFO role.

In September last year, Santos announced the appointment of Duhe as its new CFO, starting in mid-October.

Prior to joining Santos, Duhe was interim CEO at Newcrest.

Before that, she served as CFO at LNG player Woodside for four years until early 2022, prior to which she had a 13-year career with Shell.

“Sherry has made a significant contribution in her time at Santos, leading the structural cost reduction initiative over the past year and implementing a number of other business improvements, particularly in the long-term planning and budget processes, Santos managing director and CEO Kevin Gallagher said.

“Sherry has been a valued member of the Santos executive leadership team and is leaving the company to pursue other interests,” he said.

This move comes after a consortium led by Adnoc’s investment unit, XRG, withdrew its $18.7 billion takeover offer for Santos.

In June, Santos received a non-binding indicative proposal from the XRG consortium, which includes Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company (ADQ) and US-based investment firm Carlyle.

However, XRG said last month that the consortium will not proceed with a binding offer for Santos.
