PTT, Centrica seal 10-year LNG SPA

A unit of Thailand's PTT has signed a sales and purchase agreement with a unit of the UK-based energy firm Centrica to supply it with liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Asia.

PTT International Trading (PTTT) and Centrica LNG Company signed the SPA for a 10-year term, starting in 2028.

Centrica said in a statement that the SPA builds on the heads of agreement signed in June 2025 and marks a “significant step forward” in Centrica’s strategic commitment to grow its LNG portfolio.

The contract will be managed from Centrica’s Singapore office.

Centrica said the agreement secures “flexible and reliable” LNG supply for its Asian customers, whilst deepening Centrica’s relationship with PTT, an “important” partner in Asia.

PTT noted in a separate statement that this milestone marks a “significant step for PTTT toward sustainable growth in global LNG trading.”

“It will enable both companies to better respond to evolving market challenges and rapidly changing global LNG demands, while further reinforcing their competitiveness in the international energy market,” PTT said.

Thailand currently imports LNG from various countries via two import terminals operated by PTT.

These terminals include the first Map Ta Put LNG terminal (LMPT 1) with a capacity of 11.5 mtpa and the second Map Ta Phut LMPT2 LNG terminal, also known as the Nong Fab LNG terminal, with a capacity of 7.5 mtpa.

Thailand’s Gulf and PTT Tank Terminal, a unit of PTT, also expect to launch commercial operations at their LNG terminal in Map Ta Phut, Thailand’s third such facility, in the first quarter of 2029.
