Malaysia’s Petronas in LNG truck delivery move

Malaysian energy giant Petronas recently launched a Virtual Pipeline System solution to deliver LNG to off-grid customers using trucks.

Petronas said its gas and new energy unit developed the solution to boost the use of LNG across Malaysia.

The solution provides off-grid industries in Malaysia with an option to switch to gas.

As per the fuel source, trucks fitted with cryogenic tanks load LNG at the Petronas-operated Pengerang regasification terminal in Johor.

To test the new solution, Petronas already earlier this month completed its first delivery.

The firm delivered LNG to Continental Tyre Alor Setar Malaysia’s manufacturing plant.

“The introduction of the VPS solution forms a part of Petronas’ commitment to environmental sustainability and to drive the growth of natural gas usage in Malaysia,” Adnan Zainal Abidin, CEO of the Petronas gas and new energy business unit, said.
