GTT wins tank gig from Hudong-Zhonghua for eight LNG carriers

France’s GTT has secured a new contract to design the tanks of eight LNG carriers ordered at Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua.

GTT said in a statement that the 174,000-cbm vessels would be fitted with its NO96 membrane containment system.

Hudong-Zhonghua would deliver the vessels to several Asian owners between the third quarter of 2025 and the fourth quarter of 2027, GTT said.

The Paris-based LNG containment giant did not provide any additional information.

Hudong-Zhonghua has won a large number of orders for LNG carriers this year and this GTT contract could be related to the two recent orders related to the giant QatarEnergy shipbuilding program.

Japan’s MOL said signed a long-term charter contract for three LNG carriers with QatarEnergy, while a consortium consisting of Japan’s NYK, K Line, Malaysia’s MISC, and China LNG Shipping signed a deal for five LNG carriers.

Hudong-Zhonghua will build all of these eight carriers and deliver them between 2025 and 2027.
