DSME picks TMC Compressors for BW LNG carrier duo

South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has contracted Norwegian firm TMC Compressors to supply a marine compressed air system to two BW LNG carriers.

TMC will supply three smart air compressors for service and control air on board each of the two ships – DSME hull numbers 2509 and 2510.

The 174,000-cbm vessels will join BW LNG’s fleet in 2022. They will both feature MAN Energy Solutions’ dual-fuel, two-stroke ME-GI engines.

The Norwegian firm has also delivered a similar marine compressed air system for seven other BW LNG carriers built by the Korean yard.

To remind, DSME is constructing in total nine LNG carriers with ME-GI propulsion for BW LNG, a unit of the Singapore-based gas shipping giant.
