EPS LNG-powered tankers to feature HD KSOE’s pumps

Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has joined forces with South Korea’s HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) to install the latter’s pumps and vaporizer skids on LNG-powered Aframax tankers.

According to a joint statement, four LNG-powered Aframax tankers will get Hi-Cryo LNG HP pumps and vaporizer skids.

The LNG HP pump, which features a cam roller drive system and dynamic seal technology, offers enhanced operational efficiency and durability, the statement claims.

“Compared to competitor products, these pumps increase the seal lifetime by 50 percent, providing substantial economic benefits,” it said.

The cam roller drive system also allows for independent cold-end operation and a cut-off function during emergencies, ensuring redundancy and continuous operation.

These innovations are expected to lower operating costs and improve maintenance efficiency for LNG-powered vessels, according to the statement.

This project marks the launch of HD KSOE’s LNG HP pump business in the growing LNG dual-fuel market.

EPS has a large fleet of LNG-powered vessels, including containerships, tankers, bulkers, and PCTCs.

The company recently completed its 350th ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation.
