LGM Engineering clinches contract for six LNG-powered bulkers

China’s Gloryholder Liquefied Gas Machinery (LGM Engineering) said it has won a contract to supply fuel systems for six LNG-powered bulk carriers.

LGM Engineering said in a statement it has signed the contract with China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao (SWS) in October.

The firm says that SWS is building these six 190,000-dwt dual-fuel dry bulk carriers for mining giant Anglo American.

Earlier this year, LGM Engineering also won a similar contract for four LNG-powered bulk carriers SWS is building for Taiwan’s U-Ming and which will serve Anglo American as part of a charter deal.

LGM Engineering said the scope of supply under the new contract includes two type C LNG fuel tanks with PUF insulation for each of the six vessels.

In addition, the Chinese firm will provide LNG bunkering stations, water/glycol system, as well as commissioning, and crew training.

The deliveries of the LNG fuel supply systems will start in June 2022.
