TGE Gas raises roof on first Yangjiang LNG tank in China

Germany-based TGE Gas Engineering, a unit of China’s CIMC, said it had raised the roof on the first tank at the Yangjiang LNG peak shaving storage project in China’s Guangdong province.

TGE and its consortium partner China Chengda Engineering started working on this project for Guangdong Yanjiang Hailing Bay LNG in September last year.

Sukanto Tanoto’s Pacific Energy previously said it established a 50/50 partnership with Guangdong Yudean Natural Gas, a unit of Guangdong Energy, to build the LNG facility.

According to TGE, the roof on the terminal’s first 160,000-cbm full containment LNG storage tank was lifted using air pressure on September 25.

The partners should soon complete the same operation on the second tank as well.

This project located in Yangjiang includes the construction of two 160,000-cbm LNG storage tanks, as well as an LNG jetty, sea water drainage system, LNG truck loading stations, gasification facilities, and other auxiliary facilities.

The facility would have an annual processing capacity of 2.8 million tons, while it ultimately could reach 6 million tons per year.

TGE did not say when the partners expect to complete the facility. Pacific Energy previously said the project should go online in 2024.
