Fluxys says Dunkirk LNG ops not impacted by strike

Operations at the Fluxys-operated Dunkirk LNG terminal in France have not yet been affected by a workers' strike, a Fluxys spokesperson told LNG Prime on Tuesday.

The spokesperson said that a national social movement is currently underway, affecting several industrial sites in the Dunkirk region, including the Dunkirk LNG terminal.

“This movement has currently no impact on the regasification and ship unloading operations, or the truck loading activities of the terminal,” the spokesperson said.

“We don’t know exactly how long this movement will last, but it was announced for 24 hours as a rolling strike,” he said.

He noted that this action is part of a broader mobilization within the electricity and gas sector, focused on pensions and wages.

The spokesperson added that Fluxys continues to monitor the situation “closely.”

Dunkerque LNG owners include two groups with the first consortium led by Belgium’s Fluxys holding a 61 percent stake.

Commissioned in January 2017, the LNG terminal has an annual regasification capacity of 13 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

Previous shareholders EDF and TotalEnergies are the main customers of the LNG terminal through 20-year contracts.

According to Dunkerque LNG, the LNG terminal received 118 carriers in 2024. This compares to 121 carriers in 2023 and a record 141 carriers in 2022.
