Molgas delivers its first UK LNG facility

Spanish small-scale player Molgas said it has delivered its first industrial LNG facility in the United Kingdom as it continues to expand its reach throughout Europe.

The installation located in the south of England project would provide energy to “an expanding fruit growing facility,” Molgas said without providing any further information.

Molgas claims it is now one the biggest small-scale LNG providers in the European market following a recent sale of Shell’s Norwegian downstream business Gasnor to the Spanish firm.

Gasnor, headquartered in Avaldsnes, Norway, owns several small-scale production facilities from which it supplies fuel via trucks or chartered bunkering vessels.

The firm recently also started using a converted LNG bunkering vessel claimed to be the first such ship in Norway.

Gasnor’s business adds to a network of LNG filling stations for heavy-duty trucks Molgas already operates.

In addtion, Molgas says it provides integrated LNG infrastructure solutions to more than 100 off-grid industrial customers and provides bunkering infrastructure and services to shipping companies.

The firm has a presence in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, the UK, Ireland, and now in Norway as well.

The group plans to further expand in Europe with biogas and hydrogen infrastructure.

To remind, French private equity firm InfraVia Capital Partners said last year it acquired Molgas via its InfraVia European Fund IV.
