Total names new gas and power head

France-based energy giant and LNG player Total has named Stéphane Michel as its new gas, renewables, and power chief as part of a management reshuffle.

Michel will replace Philippe Sauquet, who has exercised his retirement rights, Total said on Tuesday.

Since January 2014, Michel had been SVP Middle East and North Africa, exploration and production. Laurent Vivier, previously senior VP for gas, succeeded him in this position in January this year, Total said.

Besides the new role, Michel also joins as a member of Total’s executive committee.

“The Gas, Renewables & Power segment has a key role to play in the growth, value creation and transformation of Total into a broad energy company,” Patrick Pouyanné, chairman and CEO of Total said welcoming Michel to the new role.
