Fluxys offers additional Zeebrugge LNG truck loading slots

Belgium’s Fluxys is offering additional truck loading slots for the next year at its LNG import facility located in the port of Zeebrugge.

Fluxys previously sold out all of the 8000 available truck loading slots for 2023.

The Zeebrugge LNG import terminal currently has two truck bays with a capacity of about 8,000 slots per year.

However, Fluxys decided in 2021 to build four additional bays due to the sharp increase in demand for LNG as fuel for trucks and ships and expects to launch these next year.

The company said in a statement on Tuesday that companies have also reserved all the 8,000 truck loading slots available for the next year and is now offering 1000 additional slots.

The 1000 additions slots will be auctioned on December 12 via a dedicated auction website.

Fluxys said that these 1000 additional slots are just the beginning of an increased truck loading offer at the Zeebrugge terminal.

“We will communicate soon on further increases in our offering due to an investment in four new self-loading bays,” it said.

Besides this, Fluxys is testing the market’s interest in importing “low-carbon” gases such as bio-LNG and hydrogen/ammonia via its Zeebrugge LNG import facility.

The move is a part of Fluxy’s plans to “reshape and extend the Zeebrugge LNG terminal into a multi-molecule hub for importing low-carbon and climate-neutral molecules as well,” it said recently.

The Zeebrugge terminal currently consists of five tanks with a storage capacity of 566,000 cbm and a regasification capacity of about 6.6 mtpa.

However, Fluxys is expanding the facility to almost double the regasification capacity.

Fluxys previously said it aims to offer 4.7 mtpa of additional regasification capacity at the Zeebruge LNG facility as of early 2024 and the full 6 mtpa as of early 2026.
